| Calvin Crest has served as a mission and ministry since 1954. Tens of thousands of children, youth and adults have made life-changing decisions to give their lives to the Lord during camps, conferences and retreats. Calvin Crest also nurtures tomorrow’s leaders. Thousands of pastors, youth leaders and missionaries have responded to the call to servant leadership as campers or staff at Calvin Crest. Calvin Crest leads summer camps, conferences and retreats for all ages. We also host or provide rental facilities for camps, conferences, retreats, meeting or programs for churches, Christian organizations, nonprofits, schools and organizations seeking a place of spiritual safety and communion with God’s creation in the Sierra Mountains as a part of their event. In the last 20 years surveys have quantified the importance of camp and conference center ministry as a place for singular spiritual development experiences. · Two-thirds of church members (70%) and elders (68%) and nine in ten ministers (90%) recall “one particular learning or spiritual growth experience that had great significance” in shaping their Christian life. · Among those surveyed half report that the spiritual growth experience took place prior to the age of 17. · The most common settings for a singular spiritual growth experience were camps, listed by 20% of members, 17% of elders, and 27% of pastors, followed by retreats, 13% members, 15% elders, 15% pastors. Adding conferences, the total that report spiritual growth experiences at camp and conference centers increase to four in ten members (40%), elders (41%) and specialized clergy (43%), to a majority of pastors (53%).
