What To Expect

Discovery Day Camp is an opportunity for local or Come & Camp kids entering 1st through 6th grade to learn exciting science and art lessons in a beautiful Christian camp setting! The Day Camp program will run from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm Monday through Friday under the supervision of a caring and experienced staff. Our days will be packed full of activities, incorporating singing, music, art, science, local history, games, and hiking. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate early drop-off or late pick-ups. Parents are invited on Friday afternoon for a “showcase of camp” when campers will present their week’s adventures in a creative way. Campers are asked to eat breakfast before they come and bring a sack lunch.

Oakhurst is equipped with 24 hour medical services. In the event your child becomes ill or injured and needs medical attention, we will contact you as soon as possible. Please note that the camper’s family insurance plan is the primary source of coverage for an accident occurring while they attend Calvin Crest.

If there is an emergency at home and you need to visit or call your child, please notify Calvin Crest, at 559.772.4040. We will work with you to make the necessary arrangements to meet the needs of the situation.

The weather at Calvin Crest is often unpredictable, and nights and mornings are sometimes chilly. There is also occasional rain. Therefore, it is important to bring sufficient warm clothing and good shoes. You can check the current weather readings here.

Discovery Day Camp Leader

Christina Melahn

Christina has served on staff at Calvin Crest for over ten years and currently leads the year-round Outdoor School. She is a graduate of Whitworth University, holds a Wilderness First Responder certification, and loves introducing students and campers to the great outdoors. She spends her free time hiking, traveling, and playing board games with friends.

Pricing Tiers

Realizing that families have different abilities to pay, Calvin Crest is introducing a voluntary Three Tier Pricing program. Individuals who donate to Calvin Crest’s Campership fund make this program possible.

Tier I - $505

This is our historically subsidized rate and does not reflect the true cost of operating summer camp programs.

Tier II - $585

This is our partially subsidized fee for those who can pay more but still cannot afford the full cost of camp.

Tier III - $660

This tier more closely accounts for the true costs of camp including wear and tear of building and grounds.

More About Tiered Pricing

You may choose the tier that is most suitable for your family. It is an honor system; you tell us what is affordable for your family. All campers receive the same exact Calvin Crest experience no matter what they pay. For those families that cannot afford Tier 1, additional financial assistance is available through camperships to ensure that all children have the wonderful opportunity to attend camp. In addition, some families use this system to give themselves a multi-child or multi-week discount.

Again, this program is voluntary and in no way influences the experience children receive, yet it offers the opportunity for families to take an active role in supporting the true cost of their child's camp experience.

Another option families sometimes prefer is to pay the Tier I or Tier II pricing rate and then make a tax-deductible donation to Calvin Crest to help come closer to the true cost of camp. If you want to make a donation to Calvin Crest, you may do so here.

Camp Scholarships

Thanks to generous donations from Calvin Crest donors, we are able to offer partial scholarships, or “Camperships,” to those who would otherwise not be able to attend camp. 100% camperships are not available, but we do encourage you to partner with your local church if you require additional assistance.

Please note, if a camper is attending multiple camp sessions, a partial campership can be applied to only one camp session. In 2022, we awarded 91 camperships totaling $22,661! Don't miss out. Fill out the scholarship application online today!
